I have not looked closely inside my HHR door, but.... My 2000 Mazda Protege had all 4 actuators fail over time. I replaced them with the $5 eBay actuators.

I just had to drill a hole for mounting and spliced the wires, didn't even cut the wires to the old actuators, and connected the rod to the lock rod.

I think I paid a total of $18 in parts & shipping and about 3 hours work. The Mazda part is the entire latch mechanism and runs in the $200 each range.

 

Took a drive to Erie, PA to pickup parts shipped to my Aunts place, nice ride along Rte 5 avg milage 36.1 mpg and the odometer turned 185,000 miles!

 

I wonder if the partners worried about the ridicule the name of their business could bring from the folks and visitors to the hamlet of Silver Creek NY

 

Installed new brake pads on the front. Works good no problems. Took about 45 minutes.

 

Looks like it needs a buff.......

Today I dropped Paddy off at my friendly dealership(Ben Mynatt Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, and GMC), to have the power steering motor replaced and the infamous ignition recall done at last.

They sent me on my way to work in a crisp new Caddy ATS 2.0, which I could really get used to driving.

Picked up the Paddy-Wagon at 5pm, repairs completed perfectly as is the usual with Mynatt's, the new ignition feels notchy compared to the 83,000 mile original...but that's no big deal.

Tomorrow(well today since it's 3am), the '06 will be at Mynatt's for the same repairs, wonder if they'll let me have that ATS again?

Just curious. Since you have a KPH speedo, why is the small yellow light lit up that shows "MPH".

Them "Metric thingy's" are part of a large international conspiracy between tool makers and fastener manufacturers to guarantee that you will find out that you don't have the right wrench to remove the "Left hand threaded, 11.5 mm Muffler Bearing Bracket, Assembly, 2 Req'd" exactly five minutes after the Sears store closes on a Sunday afternoon.

Yesterday was "Wednesday Part Deux", just substitute the '06 Daily Driver HHR for Paddy.

EPS motor replacement and ignition recall performed flawlessly by my dealer, and the same Cadillac ATS 2.0 courtesy car.
