I think trying to cut the edges perfect is going to be the Achilles tendon of this wrap job. No bubbles, but the edges will probably lift up after a few washes. I'm thinking if spraying the edges with a clear coat before I install it.

And I honed my vinyl wrapping skills a little more. It'll be interesting to see how long it lasts.
I’ve been looking for a good quality graphite wrap like this to do the silver-grey Interior Door strips. It’s too bad someone didn’t make the thick laminated replica strips to cover them and make it easier. When I had a Toyota, they were made pre-cut with a sticky backing and was easy to install. Also, I think this is a great idea for the eternally crazing bowtie!

It’s interesting that now AZone has Duralast, which used to be Walmart’s battery of choice. I also had a Duralast Gold that only lasted 3 1/2 years in my Saturn. I replaced it with an Interstate Green (cost the same as a DL Gold), and so far it’s lasted nearly 7 years in the old wagon.
For the HHR in January, I got today’s Walmart battery of choice, which is the EverStart Maxx. We shall see how long this one goes. I really like that it’s got about 50 more CCA’a than the other competitors. Let’s hope both of ours last as long. I’ve already had My nephew forget and leave the radio and headlights on for an hour while waiting for me in the store. Started right up.

Today is clean up the yard and dump run day. Then a ride through the countryside, just to blow out the cobwebs, I’ve been at home for a couple of weeks now, with little trips here and there. And tomorrow I have a screen door to install at the nieces house, no one will be home for that.

Yep, seems every bowtie emblem I see on an HHR has some crazing going on. I painted one by removing the clear / gold bowtie from the chrome base and painted the backside black, then glued it back to the base. It turned out good, but doesn't solve the crazing issue.
It's funny. I work for an OE and the money we spend on our emblems and logos is crazy. The specs we demand of our suppliers must make them scratch their heads at times, but they last a long time in direct sunlight. I'm surprised GM doesn't do the same...
I have door panels from my 4th HHR that I'm restoring for my kid. I'm going to try wrapping that strip in vinyl as well. I'm concerned about some of the bends, but, we'll see.

Took a ride to my buddy's yard early this morning and now have to repair his 2000 6.5 GM diesel fuel pump.
Also waiting on parts to repair his 14hp Kawasaki engine on his SCAG 36" walk behind mower.
He doesn't know it yet but he'll be cutting my lawn the whole year plus fall clean up.
He owns a lawn service.

Great trade off, CatMan.

rorr, post some photos for a how to wrap those silver spears in the inside door panels, I’ve got some carbon fibre wrap , just haven’t had the time in good weather to apply it. That and I’ve never been good with vinyl wrap, not enough practice.

Thanks rorr!

That was enough to get operational for a trip out to the ReStore (now opened again around here) to drop off a bunch of stuff from the garage - more space!

video cable for backup camera will arrive today, so that can go in before I put the interior all back in place. Camera itself will be for another day.

Cat Man- Don't ya mean the fuel injector pump ? That 6.5 is a Detroit, isn't it ?

What's wrong with his single cylinder Kawasaki ?

Sounds like you got him over the barrel. But good he has you to repair his stuff.
