Just finished changing the spark plugs for the first time. Relatively easy job. However, I did learn an easy trick on my own. After hand-tightening the new spark plug by hand and finishing-off with ratchet, the socket would pop-off and stay down in the cavity. This took several times if removing and starting over. I then sprayed just a touch of WD-40 on the rubber piece inside the socket. Problem solved! The socket came out every time after that. 1) did not gap them 2) did not use anti- Big difference

There are special inexpensive plug sockets with a wobble extension attached to them that won't come off expressly with that in mind.
One is in deep trouble with a Ford V8 if that happens, very hard to access. The HHR is much easier but still a pain.
Keep in mind the socket has to grip the plug to remove it so wipe the oil off for that part.
Just rolled into the driveway, after a 10 hour excursion around Southern Ontario, we walked in Cambridge, then north to a turkey farm near St, Jacobs, then east to Elora another stroll and lunch, then we headed west to Lucan and then south to London, stopped for a coffee, we then drove south to St. Thomas and turned east headed for home, almost 600 klms total, the new tires are very comfortable and quieter then the summer Coopers.
And tomorrow we are off again to enjoy this nice weather we having.
