I was removing the license plate light cover and broke a screw. At least the other screw came out ok.
How can the hardware rust so bad in an area that is shielded.

I forgot about location being on the left and under our screen name.

flex additives really have not been necessary for years. Ive been painting since the mid 80's and have not used them in decades. I use fairly high end paint products in my boat painting business and have never had an issue with flex. I used PPG's DBC base with 2021 clear for my HHR. if you did wish to use them its a simple two gun teqhnique just spray the bumpers with flexed clear in a seperate gun and dont worry about the overlaps.

Put KYB shocks on the rear. About the easiest shock job I've ever done. Literally took me an hour. One was leaking and I know one on the front is leaking also. So far it rides noticeably better with just the rear done - the front struts are coming next week.

Which leads me to a rant. The shocks look like they are the original shocks, at 135k miles. Everything I've done or fixed on this car since I've had it has basically been due to lack of maintenance, which is kind of sad because the previous owners clearly had the means to do the maintenance and this car is ridiculously easy and cheap to work on. When I got my first car when I was a kid, I remember putting every penny I had into keeping it running and maintaining it because it was my means of freedom and I always figured if I put a few dollars towards maintenance, it would save me money in the long run. To this day I have the same attitude towards all my vehicles. This car is by no means my "show car" but I'll still take care of it like my more expensive vehicles. A car is usually the second largest purchase for most people so I just don't understand people not taking care of them to at least the minimum levels.

End of rant - time to go tell people to get off my lawn! Lol.
