i know you’ve already ordered but a mechless (without CD player) radio will make things a lot easier since there’s not a lot of space in the dash after you cram the aftermarket harness in there. Again, lots of tips in the audio section but not a difficult job if you’ve done radios in the past. As you can see, I just put in a new subwoofer so you may want to run the RCA and remote turn on wires for it in case you go that route in the future since you’ll be running the camera wires.

Thanks, I did go with a non-CD, multimedia head unit. I have installed a number of radios (somewhere in the distant past) and so feel like this one should go ok. We'll see.

Your suggestion about wiring for a sub makes a lot of sense. As it turns out, I already have a compact powered sub that I removed from another vehicle, where it was installed under the passenger seat. That's my preferred location; but from what I've read in the audio section here, it will be a tight fit in the HHR. I'll check it out today and see if it fits under there. If not, I'll probably wind up doing what you did with yours.

Anyhow. Here's some info from the sites Common Parts List:
Lower Control Arm - SS models ONLY (FE5 suspension)
IMPORTANT: they are only available thru GM - No after-market suppliers make a compatible part at this time, even though they may say the parts they have are for all HHR's
- GM - P/N: 25930724 - Right
- GM - P/N: 25930725 - Left
(note: Do NOT substitute a FE1 or FE3 LCA - the ball joint stub on them is 20MM and is not compatible with the spindle on a FE5/SS which is 20.5MM)

As it turns out, GM Parts Direct just cancelled my order and issued a refund, because the right LCA is on backorder .
I went to RockAuto, where I bought the left side, and signed up for an email when it's in stock there. They're cheaper than GM Parts Direct, at least for that particular part.
And so the waiting begins...

Always good to have spare parts.

Today we are going out to the farm , pickup some eggs and then a short drive they the countryside and stop for walk on a trail we used to go to years ago.
The weather forecast shows rain this afternoon, so I’m going to wait to wash the BlackSwan for a couple of days.

Smh...

After putting toys on my HHR yesterday, it was nice today so I got to the plugs and filters. Both very easy and inexpensive to change, just make sure you also get the boots when you order the plugs because as always, one will inevitably break and then you'll have to stop and run to the parts store and pay the higher price instead of the RockAuto price.

Ok, now here's the rant - look at these filters. Just horrible, just like other stuff I've attended to on this car like the shocks/struts and other maintenance items. Looking back, I should have low balled them but I really like the color. These are the same people who will bad mouth a particular car for being unreliable when they were the ones who didn't do what's necessary to maintain a car. I know people ***** about car maintenance costs but most of these costs are spread out over a year or so, so it's really not that expensive if you have your priorities in order.

End rant.

Changed oil and filter for the year... I only put 1600 miles on the HHR over the past year and it's my main vehicle.

We don’t have miles up here! Kilometres are what we measure distance in .6 of a mile!
I would walk 500 miles ! Or 804.672 kilometres! I would!
