Got some brake shoes. Should be interesting to see how the drum setup looks
I just cringe looking at drum shoes. I hate dealing with the springs and other parts - I once took apart both sides on one of my cars long ago and this was before cameras on phones so it was a mess. I actually worked in a training facility learning how to put together drum assemblies for hours on end. I know it's not going to be hard but I'm tempted to just do the front and take it to someone else to do the rear.
I have done so many drum brakes that I an do them in my sleep! that is all we had back in the day. Some of the dic brake calipers have different ways to retract the pistons and require a special tool on some. with driums all you need is a good pliers and strong hands.

The problem with drums is the constant need for adjustment - it's just one of those trifling little maintenance things that aren't necessarily hard to do but just irritating to me for some reason. If I thought I'd keep my HHR for any extended time - which I may - I'd rip it all out and put in a Cobalt disc brake suspension.
Oh yeah its like v-brakes vs hydraulic disc on a bike. My dads 2003 sonoma has full disc. There is no reason this car should ever have came with drums other than to keep costs down.
It took me about an hour for the first one and I don't recall ever changing a drum before.
I also want to get the ss rear. There was on Craigslist for $400 a few months ago. I wish I would have grabbed it.
You will need to order new brake lines that have a banjo fitting on them.
And, of course, the calipers, brackets, rotors and pads.
Also, you will have to replace the e-brake cables.
Rockauto has all of that..
The exchange took me about 7-8 hours doing it by myself.
Today just a drive out from groceries, when I went to warm up lunch in the microwave, it sparked and started smoking a thick dark burnt rubber odour, not the fun tire frying burnout scent! So , I sourced out the best price, online from BestBuy, a new replacement, it’s going to be delivered tomorrow afternoon.
During my steering wheel swap I lost the self cancelling feature of my turn signals.
After removing the switch I noticed that the 'tab' that does the cancelling was spinning freely.
My question is.....
Is that piece a 'snap in position' or is it attached permanetly to something?
Did I break something (as I am known to do)?
