Had a great talk with the_shmoo, thanks for the coffee!

today decided the 50F weather was perfect for time in the garage to replace all 4 engine/transmission mounts , not to bad , had to remove the fuse box to get the left upper transmission mount out ant the new one in. The others were straight forward, I put the HHR on jack stands and used 2 floor jacks to supply the engine and transmission. Total time was 5 hours.
The right upper engine mount, I replaced 3 years ago when I bought the HHR and it was wet from the fluid inside it and dripping off the frame onto the transmission. Could’ve been the fluid I dealt with last summer?
It’s water soluble , not red like transmission fluid out like DEXOS 5W30.

Went looking for winter storage yesterday for the...HHR!. What happened was when the HHR was down for a week due to the gas line leak, I had to drive my "nice" vehicle which I rarely drive. It was cold out one day and when I grabbed the steering wheel, it was warm - like I said, I rarely drive this car and forgot it had a heated steering wheel! The seats were also nice and toasty and there was an eerie silence and lack of bumpiness that I was experiencing while driving down the road, along with a sense of rapid acceleration, so much so that I didn't have to carefully time my merging, lol. Later that week it warmed up outside and there's a big opening over my head...it's called a sunroof! I love my HHR and I've been driving the heck out of it since I got it but I only have space for four cars and something has to give for the winter, especially since there's no on-street parking due to snowplows. Inside storage is expensive so unfortunately the low man on the totem pole that can be stored on a surface lot is the HHR.

I moved it out of the driveway and parked out on the street, make room for bathroom contractor. He will be removing bath tub and shower, tomorrow he’ll be installing a new shower and shower doors.

Drove the HHR, nice and quiet, no drivetrain mounts knocking metal to metal. 11 1/2 years was enough for them to fail! We stopped at Sweetie’s favourite European Delicatessen, picked up some groceries and pastries!

I just went to drive to the hardware store , noticed the driver’s side WeatherTech window vent guard is gone! Too cold to roll the window down , so someone musta wanted it! I don’t believe it just fell off!

You replaced the engine mount again after just three years? Is the motor mount the only original mount that was fluid filled? Was the replacement also fluid filled? Which of the four mount were in the worst condition?

Now 90k miles, the LS has developed a little shake. The front end will be attacked next week. The bushings came yesterday. The struts, Saturday, from Rock Auto two days early. Hoping anything else needed is in stock locally. All the dampeners are still OK, but this will be an upgrade. KYB shocks already on hand.

The (rusty) vent line was replaced yesterday. Maybe that will fix the P0442.
