I put some blue dots in the tail lights, It's been a tradition of mine for a long time. The chrome reflectors in the tail lights don't make the "glow" like the old school white reflectors..But I like em' anyway.

Started off the morning off by driving to breakfast followed by a quick stop at Wally World for some printer ink. Afterwards, took Jason (saxrocks2009) for a cruise to experience the turbo upgrade. We stopped at the backup location to check some things out and then headed back to Hillsdale to grab the camera. Then it was off to Coldwater for lunch at Applebees. Afterwards headed back to Hillsdale where Agent O was treated to some cleaning inside and out and then he and RDBLHHR went to the Rearing Ponds for a mini shoot

I had read somewhere that the blue dots don't really work in these tail lights, "no glow". Looks cool though...

Are yours made of Glass? I always get real glass ones. (I think I may have asked you this, or someone else here in another thread.)

The plastic ones won't "Glow" well at all. Avoid them.

The best Glow is with the Dot centered over the bulb. (for anyone that wanted them on another car, gotta be directly centered over the bulb.)

I have a few spare pairs laying around, always like to keep a couple sets in my tool box. A guy on ebay sells real glass blue dots for 9.99 a set with free shipping.

I never thought about the white vs chrome background, funny you'd think the Chrome inside would give a better effect.

I have always liked the purplish/blue glow at night, and the Blue dot during the day.

Classic look for just about any car.

I'd have put on a set on my Panel but I am still wanting the '55 Chevy tail lights and will put a set in them once I pry my wallet open for them.

It doesn't take hydraulics for that, just reach in there with your thumb and fore finger, pinch that visa card and pull it out !!

Yah I have the glass ones.
I put a blue dot in my motorcycle taillight and made a reflector out of thin white teflon, and it pumped up the glow, but it didn;t seem as bright.

Blue Dots !!!!

On the HHR, because the rear lights are on a slight angle, the light does not go directly thru the Blue-Dots. That's why no glow, like we're used to..

I have em on my bikes also, here's Ol Ruby my 97 FLHR (15 lights in all)...

Edit: If you paint the reflectors a Hi-Gloss White, I find the lights are Brighter..

What we need are self illuminated "blue dots" to get the look we remember from back in the day. Wonder if anyone makes them or how big a pain it would be to fab some up?

That would be a good experiment for some LEDs
