The Paint shop called today- "car is done!"
Went to pick it up and talked my wife through installing headlights, taillights mirrors and bumpers. She was quite useful for a change ;-)
I got a good price for doing some easy prep work.
The color is from a 1953 Porsche- fashion grey
Now I get to spend the weekend putting on the new wheels, lowering and installing a pile of other bits.

Great choice of color sick50ford, it really goes well with the lines of the HHR.

Once you get it all screwed back together(your wife really deserves a nice night out on the town for her efforts), post up some more pics for us, and maybe think about entering it in the "Featured" competition.

Lost a center cap on my Boyds Smoothie II's last week, front one. I hit up ebay and grabbed a set of Four.

Tracking says they went through a semi local USPS sort facility so I am Hoping they get delivered Today, I hate having one missing on Morticia, and a holiday weekend she just feels naked with it missing. Damn pot holes, or thiefs, not sure what happened to it, I do know the day it was gone, did not recall hitting a pothole tho.

Once replaced at least now I will have 3 spares on hand. $120.00 shipped for a used set.

$30 a piece for Boyd center caps sounds like a deal.

I'm going to be washing my wagon in just a little bit followed by a light coat of wax on the front bumper and hood. Heading on my first road trip tomorrow...can't wait! Added some new stickers to the surfer last night...not sure how long they'll stay on...lol.

I looked through the last 30 posts. Impression: guys! You spend days washing their cars.
Well, then. Today I am the same. Thorough cleaning of the interior. Three hours of water treatment; a lot of chemical agents to clean plastic, leather, textiles; two bags of garbage delivered to the dump. Along the way, found a few parts that I had forgotten, and 7 police reports that I did not pay. Cleaning is made by my wife, I helped her as best he could. She is tired and frightened. In Russia there is a sign: an unexpected, but the fanatical Cleaning - to the deceased.
I hope this time the sign will not work.

Yeah 1 was either $50.00, or $65.00 plus shipping with a make offer, 2 were at $80.00 free shipping or buy a set of four at $30.00 each. Figure I had to at least have a spare one since one went A W O L on me. I can't stand a Missing Detail on my cars. It has been Bothering me, I sure hope they get here Today. A Spare one will Always be kept in Morticia, just in case.

Something tells me that the Hippo is quite pleased right now after a long hard winter, its good to pamper your HHR Andrey.

Tell your wife that you're not dying, just lavishing some attention on the other "love of your life".

Thanks for the kind words 843! I can't get the color to show very well in pictures. Every picture I've taken looks different, and none look like the car.
The non-metallic grey really is quite eye grabbing in person without being loud.

On the drive home from paint I was stopped at the first stoplight listening to the couple next to me discuss why I might be driving with the door handles removed. After a minute the husband says "I know. That's a brand new paint job, and what a cool color!"

I'll definately post up pics when I make some progress.

You should have told them you always wanted a race car, so you climb in and out through the windows.

It really is a cool color, can't wait to see the finished product.
