What kind of car did you give up for your HHR?

Gave up the mommymobile for the sweet stylings of the HHR. Wasn't even looking for a car, but saw it in the paper, and knew I HAD to have one! The 97 Villager was a decent minivan, and served us well, but had some problems. Was going to cost 1000 or more to fix it. Decided to try and build some credit and buy a nice used HHR. And, I am in love with it.

I left my Arrival Blue '03 Silverado Ext Cab 1500 at the dealer for my SS. Call me crazy, but I loved that truck. But she was having a love affair with the local gas station I couldn't stand. So I had to leave her.

I sold "my baby" but it wasn't because I wanted to or that I wanted an HHR. My hubby rolled & totaled our 2000 Chevy Blazer. Both it and my Mustang were paid off. My baby was not a family and not practical at all especially in snow. So we fought tooth and nail to get a good insurance payout on the Blazer and then I did the hardest thing ever and sold my baby. We pooled the money and bought my hubby a '97 Ford Escort with only 21,000 miles on it for cheap (lucked out and bought from a family friend who maintained the car religiously, changing the oil every 3 months and replacing the tires just because she figured it needed it!) I spent 3 months searching for a car for myself, I was looking at PT Cruisers and HHRs. Finally found my Violet. It was hard to go from a car that I bought new and took such excellent care of to a used vehicle. I ordered my Mustang and customized it exactly how I wanted it. I was there when she was unloaded off the car carrier at the dealer and besides people at the factory and the shag man at the dealer I was the first person to ever drive her. I maintained her well and she was pristine when I sold her. Violet was not so lucky. She's been rode hard (former rental) but hopefully I can bring her back to life, it will just take some time and money.

I haven't given up anything. The HHR SS is my new daily driver. I decided to give the Z/28 to the girlfriend.

I stopped driving my grandfathers old 88 Dodge Dakota 2wd. I kept it in the family and gave it back to my Uncle, who is cleaning it up and paying attention to it.

After nearly 4 years, we were going to trade in our beloved '99 Cadillac Catera in late summer, for an HHR. Well, the time turned out to be now. The valve train is not getting oil and it sounds like a diesel. Couldn't even trade it the way is it. I don't want to stick any time or money into it. Still looks and drives great though. I'm sure going to miss it. It was a fun car to drive. Going to 4 cyl is sure quite a change, but I'm looking forward the gas savings!

I almost gave up my 98 Buick Riviera, but changed my mind at the last minute. Decided to keep it also as it is just too clean and I will alternate driving it on my 120 mi. per day commute to keep the miles down on the SS.

I have 2 kids in college now also and when they come home over the summer break they will need a vehicle. Can't be loanin' out the new HHR you know!

Traded my '03 Hyundai Sonata V6 LS. (29K miles) I wanted something that could haul more stuff when the need arose.
