What kind of car did you give up for your HHR?

Get out of the Metro areas and trucks rule.
haha, well I've just never seen so many people with a truck until I lived in this area. Most of my younger years was living in Detroit, Michigan and Pensacola, Florida. Been here for 9 years.

Well, tried to give up my 98 chevy tracker, 190,000 miles......I have tried to give up that car for the last 6 YEARS!!! And yet it still sits in my driveway. Only made a $10 difference to the HHR payment to add trade on the tracker, and my insurance only went up $10 with the HHR and keeping the tracker. And so it now sits, to be used for taking the pups for a ride, and whenever the tracker engine dies, I'll just rebuild it, which is soon with an oil leak in the crank HHR is most sensible "for the family" car we own right now. And we still have the for fun cars.

I'm a 35 mile walk from Boston and 12 mile walk from Worcester (Centrum).
It's a blue collar town with a 15 minute commute to any Interstate so there are less Saabs, Bimmers & other white collar riff-raff.
We're only a couple of blocks from downtown but I scared the poop out of a moose when I opened the front door to get the mail a few years ago.
The lady across the street said we had a pair of deer on our lawn one morning last year.
That's all cool but my dog got a mouthfull of skunk-juice jumping up the steps to the back porch one night.

There are more personal trucks (not business') than cars on my street.
Soccer team transport vehicles don't really count.
That's convenient because there are plenty of neighbors to choose from when someone needs furniture moved, etc...

I put 130,000 miles on my 2001 GMC 1500, I needed something that would get better mileage, but I did give up the pickup for my HHR Panel, it just got downgraded to as needed use from daily driver, the Panel in now my daily driver. My wife gave up a 1993 Ply Duster that was beat near to death for here 2006 HHR Wagon, that poor beat up Duster is still running stong after 2 years of teenage beating, it looks more ragged, but its still going......

I traded in my 2003 Chevy Blazer 4dr, I've wanted an HHR since they were released and now I have one, not the one I really wanted (SS) but still better than walking :)

I replaced an '96 Olds Achieva w/ 160,000 +/-. I sold it to a coworker for $400 as it needed new tires (over 50k on the current ones), AC was broke, passanger window wouldn't role down, brakes where due for a change, ect. ect. Everything under the hood minus tranny had been replaced.

I liked the HHR for awhile and when we started looking my wife wanted a cobalt or pontiac g5. After test driving the HHR LT there was no looking back for her and we ended up w/ the SS. A great car/toy.

Good choice!

I traded in my 39000 kilometer 2007 blue Cobalt LT 4dr for the SS. My Astro has become since then my 'gas sucking' daily driver.

i got rid of my 2001 ford ranger. i loved that truck but i need a new car that wasnt going to brake down on me all the time. so before i got rid of it . i had my "fun" in it. im talking about i jumped a dirt ramp i made haha. and many other crazy things. but something tragic almost happend when i was driving it to its place to die.

well the tires on the back werent so good anymore and well it was raining on a 4 lane road.
and im glad i was the only one driving . well except for my wife in the panel behind me.

heres how it happend,

i was drivng about 40. 10 under the speedlimit. and then the whole back of the truck started swaying and i tryed to control it. but i lost it and was sliding backwards in to the 2 on coming lanes. but before i went for the ditch i just punched the gas to send me going back the way i came . and well that worked. i was so glad. cuz i didnt feel like paying for a tow out of that ditch.

now i love my 07 ls panel. i sorta miss how tall the ranger was. i didnt have to worry about hitting curps when i park
