What kind of car did you give up for your HHR?
Well first I sold my very modded 02 Focus ZX3 and then I sold my 56 BelAir hardtop. The HHR was an after thought, but although I haven't got it yet I'm sure it will be a wonderful addition to my new toy collection. Oh yeah, I'm trading in my 03 S-10 for the HHR.
2001 Altima...it was such a strippy model, only had auto tranny. So, like going to the market when you are hungry, I bought my HHR with just about everything except the 6-CD changer.
*Side note: I work at a school and my kids told me that a bunch of kids told them that their dad has the coolest car at school.*

I gave up my 93 Satty SL2. (But the HHR is still part Saturn Ion.)
I bought that car new, and from the night I bought it home, I began taking it apart. Relocated the spare to a compartment I made in the trunk, and put in the amplifer (tried a few, settled on a 5 channel Aura) along with crossovers, 6 disk cd changer, power splitter, etc. Had an 8 inch Aura sub in a nice box. I ran 2 gauge wire from the battery in the engine compartment. Had 4 speakers in the stock locations (the same Rockford Fosgates I transfered to the HHR) and 2 tweeters I mounted in the front vents (came out great-I used the grill as a template and drilled holes directly in the plastic with a Dremel). A Pioneer P80-MP head unit completed the system-this is the unit I will put in my HHR as soon as the interface kit is availble. I put a low restriction muffler, CAI system, 8 mm wires, and nice tires. The car was quick, sounded nice, and had a killer sound system.
All was fine until the tranny started doing the famous Saturn 'reverse slam', where it hesitates then bangs into reverse. Then, the warning light began coming on indicating that the traction control was not locking. The car has an upper valve body, which is supposed to be fairly easy to work on and replace, but the parts would cost $650. I was considering doing it, but then decided to check the engine. A compression test revealed a bad cylinder. It was then I knew it was time for a new car, and the HHR was the one.
