My HHR is going in to have the smell looked into and have an oil change on Friday so I'll know something late Friday afternoon but probably won't have a chance to post anything until Monday.

No fix as of yet. When I brought it in the first time on the 13th they examined the air intake and cleaned it out (small amount of tree and flower debris in there and then they sprayed a disinfectant (lysol type product.) This helped for about a day and a half but the smell returned shortly after. I brought it back in on the 17th or 18th to have the smell examined again and this time I brought the A/C smell TSB (they also did not use the supplied Mobil1 for my oil change the previous week so they had to redo the oil change. The tech responsible for HVAC problems called in sick that day and nothing was looked at. Yesterday the HHR was in the shop again for the A/C and this time it was examined and parts were ordered. I know that they had ordered the coating spray because I saw that on my service part and one other part but I can't remember what. This stuff is coming directly from the "source" and might be about 2 or 3 weeks before it arrives.

The smell is in the process of being taken care of but it is not fixed yet.

any news on a fix? also the melted crayon is exactly the smell I'm getting, I'm starting to think its something GM or Chevy uses to seal the vent up like a glue or sealant. Maybe when it gets cold and gets hot it lets off a smell i have seen this before with other sealants. Just a thought.

The dealership called me the other day to let me know that the supplies for my repair have come in. I haven't yet taken the car into the shop to have the work done. Next week at some point.

Thought I should provide an update. Last week (Thursday I think it was) I finally had my HHR back in the shop to have the TSB work done related to the afterblow module (or whatever the proper technical terms are.) Things seem to be fine, I've noticed the air come on a couple of times after I have been driving while I was sitting in the car cleaning and grabbing some of my things. The air comes on a pull blast and stays on for a little while. Seems to be working fine. I haven't noticed any sort of smell anymore. They sprayed some de-odourizer and bacteria stuff (GM's version of Lysol) and then did afterblow modification.

I'm hoping that an odour doesn't return anytime soon. I have noticed that on a few occassions since last week the air coming out of the HVAC system still feels pretty moist and humid.

Update****** I also just had the after blow installed and mine still does it, Just took it back in to have them check the Butyl patch to make sure it doesn't have a small leak causing the smell.
