Thanks for all the input, gentlemen. I plan to purchase the rims, but I have a minor dilemma... since it's a private party sale I have no guarantees about size accuracy. I'm physically constrained a bit right now and can't mount a wheel. Is there a quick and dirty way to confirm the bolt pattern without all the measure mm from the center stuff? I was thinking of taking one of the wheel covers (with the removable lug nut caps) and using it as a template to align over the new wheels to confirm the pattern size. Sound feasible?

Has the seller told you what vehicle they came from?

It's a gut feeling you'll have, if you feel they're the wrong size, walk away!

Without a doubt, Steve.
No. He said he purchased them from another buyer for an SUV but they didn't fit. I'm still wondering if the HHR wheel covers will work as an overlay to confirm the bolt pattern since they align with the factory lug pattern.

Be a bummer to buy them, thinking they fit, only to get home and try to mount them... 5x112 arggg!! Or 5x108!! Is there no one you can take with you to help do a test mount?

I found this thread from someone who bought wheels that "almost" fit. Some good info in there.

Take a ruler and measure from one lug hole to one of the opposite ones. I'd trust that over an eyeball and the hub cap.

The lug patterns might be stamped/raised somewhere in the back of the wheel. Be careful trying to measure them as it is really easy to mis-measure 112mm as 110mm.

Again... thank you all very much for your input and guidance. I bought the wheels. They measured out correctly and, yes, the info was stamped on the rim of the wheels. And for the sake of argument the wheel cover holes aligned exactly with the rim holes. Three for three!
