Wiring in rear spare tire storage area by battery

I just purchased a 2010 HHR LT. I noticed a wire, in back of the spare tire (next to the battery) that comes through the bottom of the vehicle that is connected to nothing. It has a pin connector. I cannot see where it is to be connected too or what it's purpose is. I cannot find any documentation on it.

Any insight would be appreciated.

to the forum bc@vedas.com!

At first blush, it sounds like you're looking at the remains of a "pigtail" for a trailer hitch setup, can you give a more detailed description of the plug like a pin count?
