Is it worth keeping.

Put my hhr in for inspection and failed. It will cost over 1000.00 to get it on the road. Plus I have 8 codes that I was told will cost 2000.00+. Its 2006 hhr with 170k+ miles. Is it worth putting that kind of money into it.

Can you do any of the work cheaper yourself? I often let them tell me what it needs, then bring it back for reinspection.

Most of it I can do except for the front bushings.

My problem is I am beginning to feel like good money after bad. I have enjoyed the car but I have been told about a year left to the engine. That puts it at 200k miles.

Wow..I'd be looking or a second opinion/ estimate..
Some of those codes could be tied together..as in one part fixes numerous codes..

I'm sorry you're giong through this. Is it a feasible to save that 3000$ and buy another used HHR

When I rsearched getting my HHR, I found that all years of HHRs are reliable, but the 2006 one is a bit less reliable (it's the first year after all)

I agree, grab an SS while you still can, if you liked the HHR, you will be a Fan also....

I would think all the problems could be fixed for less, but we would need to know the code/codes to tell.

I can relate to you problem. My 91 ranger I had for 22 years was in the same boat. Sometimes you just have to let them go. I traded it for my 2011 HHR and have not looked back. If you like the HHR trade it in for a 10 or 11 model. I saw the dealer still had it on the lot and called the salesman I traded it to. He said they put over 3 grand to get it to pass smog. Yep it was time to move on.

I'm glad I don't have to do all of the inspections.
