Would you buy a 2007 2.4 w/158K on it? I need help!

I've been looking since last summer, for an HHR to show up at a local dealership, and the one I thought I'd buy, back in December, was sold out from under me.

What I knew I didn't want was a 2006 or 2007 because they were just starting out. I'd hoped a 2008 - 2010 would show up, that I could afford.

After reading all the things everyone was posting I knew I didn't want anything other than a 2.4 for sure.

One is now available, but it is a 2007. I'm concerned that if I don't buy it right away it will sell and I'll end up waiting another 6 months.

So, I'm asking for some honest opinions to help me think about this.

Thanks for anything you can share with me, good or bad.

Sher

Without knowing any details other than it is a 2007 with high miles on it, no price, no maintenance information, condition of the exterior, condition of the interior, etc., etc., I'm not sure what you think anyone can offer in the way of opinions.

The poster just figured out they didn't want to post it after all. It happens semi-frequently.

I tried to post the link, it's very long and I can't figure out how.
I haven't seen it yet, all I have is the info from the dealers post.
I do have a concern that there is no warranty.
If I buy this I will ask for at least 30 days, hopefully. :)

That was me. I tried to search up a 2.4L HHR in Wisconsin, thought I had a good one, but it turned out to be in Chicago.

It was white with about 138,000 for $3500, I think.
It's on the Kenosha/Madison Craig's list but the car is in Chicago. ?
Anyway, I decided not to bother you with it.
I'd rather find one with less than a 100,000 for about 4 myself.

Being used, with that kind of mileage, it really isn't that likely they will provide a warranty that would really be worthwhile.

You can try asking if they will give you the previous owners name so you can get some sort of feeling on it's past maintenance, or work that has been done on it.

Having a trusted mechanic give it a thorough check would be worthwhile, and/or have a quick read and download the checklist at How to Buy a Used Car Without Getting Burned - PM's 101-Point Checklist

So what's the problem with a 2007?
My 2007 LS 2.2 automatic is still running strong at 385,000 klms or 240,000 miles.
No VVT to work on, no ABS brakes or traction control.
On the 2.4 you should get at least another 160,000 miles out of it and more
That's just .0184 cents per mile if you maintain it correctly.
Buy it!
It looks like a nice clean 1 or 2 LT
Neat it has a sunroof to boot!
