There is no way flying cars can ever be taken mainstream. The majority of the motoring public can barely operate a conventional ground based vehicle in a safe manner. Put them all up in the sky and you have total chaos... it would be raining human body parts and shredded air-cars from the word go.

Should have been real cars only that have already flown. I mean if you will take cars that people are dreaming about, why not the car in the Bond films that was a jet, or the Delorean from Back to the Future, I mean, come 'on, "expects to be flying within 10 years if given investment funds" is a joke.
Moller has been working on his cars for years (the flying sacuer thing and the red car) and still hasn't gotten past simple test flights. His vision is for a computer controlled "skyway" to prevent people from crashing into each other. You just punch in the destination and the computer does the rest. His vision is solid, he has spent millions, can fly off the ground when attached to a crane for safety and yet they are not production ready.
