$15k for manual with 50k miles or $8k for auto with 170k?
Hello everyone. I'm in the market for a car. I want the chevy SS (holden commodore) but they went up $10,000 in value over the last year, for no reason. So Now I'm in the market for an HHR SS
I don't really want the manual as It's not going to be a race car. But it has a lot less mileage.
There is a 2010 SS (vin 3GNBADDM0AS559608) with 170k (from what I can see from free VIN reports, might have more now) and they want $8,500 at the dealership. I figure we can talk them down a little bit? It's very clean.
I want a fast car but can't really justify the price tags as my LT runs mostly fine.
My 2010 LT has 208,000 and runs great. Are the SS more prone to failures and expensive repairs?

Get the lower mileage SS , it’s the drive that thinks it’s a race car, not the SS itself. A 5 speed is more desirable.
as for repairs, some parts are becoming harder to find, but some preventative maintenance can go a long way!

$15k for the manual seems like a high price to me. I know used car prices have gone up in the last year but that's a lot.
My 2010 SS manual has 58k miles and I value it now at around $11k - $12 at the most.

There have been only a few times that I wished I had an automatic transmission. One of those times was in bay area traffic. If you have to deal with stop and go traffic frequently, you might want to get an automatic transmission.
