I looked at a used 08 HHR SS today and need a couple of questions answered.

My 09 HHR LT2 has F/R side air bags, do these come standard on the SS(I forgot to look at that)?

My HHR has the Dome/Reading lamps just forward of the moon roof and the SS had only the moonroof controls and the little bluetooth/onstar gismo grill. Is this normal to be without any kind of light in the front roof?

It seem like the SS had more road noise than my HHR.

My HHR lists the Sport Tuned Supension on the Maroney sticker, does the SS have a stiffer STS.

The kicker is the SS only has 5700 miles on it. It is about as clean as I have
ever seen a used car. They want $17999 for it and I think they will come down some more. The Kelly Blue book has it around $19-20K. It is Victory Red.

Would appreciate some answers from the real world of actual owners.

Truthfully can't answer the first question but the rear view mirror has 2 little map lights and yes the SS has a different suspension setup than yours.

 

There is dome/map lights on the mirror. And 08 didnt have the side impact air bags like the 09(as far as I know anyways)at least my 08 SS doesnt have them.

 

The side airbags are not standard, but many have them(including mine). You will have to look at the interior to see. The price is too high for sure. 2 yrs ago when I bought my SS (with the same mileage at the time) the asking price was 17995. 2 years later, with the lousy resale these have it should be a good bit lower. Forget blue book retail as it is full of it. I have never paid near BB retail on any used car.

 

They had just called me back and lowered it to $16K which is 3 to 4K below Kelley. Most of the dealers now are only giving auction price in real time for trade in.

I love mine but the trade in sucks. Mine listed for $24K and I got it for $19K with the discounts and now the book shows about $11K. It was paid for when I drove it off the lot and looks like I will drive it awhile (29K on it in 18 months) then give it to one of the grandkids.

Hell who knows at age 70 it will probably out last me.

One quick question.

I was on a long straight back road yesterday and passed a car and just held it down and it pulled right up to 110. What will the 2.4 actually do without my wife along hollering at me.

Mine has none of what you describe. It would be nice but if I can ever wipe the grin off my face long enough to wish I had map lights or side curtain airbags, I would.
Do have to drive in snow? Regularly? Mine just sits, I live in Buffalo.

Side Air Bags were optional and most do not have them in 08.

The dome light is the older light. The 09 and later get the better light.

Will get a little more road noise due to the siffer springs and larger lower profile tires. Handling has it's price.

The SS has the best suspesion GM offers. This is a GMPD tuned car. Only the best get this.

As for price what they are listing is about right but this is slow time and they will deal.

How fast is a 2.4 with out the wife. Depends on how big she is! LOL!
Truth is about 110 mph as only the SS is not limited to 110 MPH by GM. You were at the limit. GM claims 155 MPH for the SS.

 

I have side bags in mine....thought that was standard for the SS? 6 Bag system....2 dash..2 a pillar..2 center pillars.....maybe optional

 

Definitely not standard in 08. But optional. Gotta look at the individual car to see if it has em.

 

I can testify the SS can really make the wife squeal enthusiastically but the Daughter gets a thrill .
