09 ss blown engine swapped motors now a few small issues

Ok so my dads engine lost pressure in the number one cylinder. (29 psi
He purchased a new crate motor from zzp
And swapped it.
He is now having a few small issues with what I believe is the map sensor?
For one it wasn't a plug and play plug with the new engine he had to alter the plug to get it to work.

He's getting some codes also.
And is saying it feels like the turbo doesn't have much power..

Apparently the engine is newer than his 09.
Not sure what changed since 09 as I'm unfamiliar with these cars.

I forget the exact codes and will have to ask him..

But they were something like a mass airflow "performance issue"

Is there any issues one would run into swapping a newer motor?

Sounds like the original engine had a GMTU tune. They use different sensors & connectors.

I don't believe that it did. But I could be wrong..
He's curious on whether or not he should just swap intake manifolds

Ok my dad talked to someone at zzp
Apparently the motor is from a solstice and the only difference is the intake manifold plug
They told him the easiest way is to swap his old intake manifold to his new engine and his problems should be solved....

What exactly did your father purchase? I'm quite familiar and have zzproblems of my own. There are a few options to go with. GEN 3 (LDK) or GEN 2 (LNF) A drop in LDK is nearly identical to the LNF only difference is it does use a smaller MAP sensor. 3 choices;
1. New MAP sensor
2. New O ring (I'll try and link one)
3. Carefully drill out the hole to accept the old MAP
4. Use the original intake manifold

I wouldn't go with option 3 if the intake is installed...obviously

Now low boost and MAP codes go hand in hand. Did your dad change anything besides the crate motor? Which is new, from a solstice..so I'll assume it's a GEN 2 LNF. Get me a list of what was installed and I'll help out as much as possible.

ZZP hasn't exactly impressed me with customer service. But no bashing here, it's their loss.

Hey thanks for the reply. He's sending me a link to exactly what he purchased right now.
He swears it's the gen 3 ldk

He already purchased the intake manifold gasket to do the swap.
Also he hasn't driven the car very hard yet due to all the codes.
He did say it felt faster on his trip to the dealer today.

I asked him how much boost it had. He said he believed it hit 15psi but wasn't positive
(It used to hit 15 psi every time with the old engine)
Also
Do these engines (solstice) have any louder "ticks" than the stock motor.
When he had it idling I didn't like how it sounded.
I heard an audible ticking and l couldn't find where it was coming from and It didn't seem to be coming from the ac valve thing(sorry again I'm pretty unfamiliar with these cars)

I will say this.
He loves his car lol.
He purchased the crate motor as a back up
A good while ago when they were cheaper than they are listed at now.

Also the original motor only had about 135k miles I believe when it conked out.
Does anyone believe that this could be a valve issue? (One cylinder 29psi) just curious how toast his motor is.
