1000 mile break in????

anyone noticed a difference in the way the ss drives after 1000 miles??? barricade seems to have more pep than when it was first new. does gm have this set into the computer??? i heard this from several other gm owners(one in particular,a cobalt ss/sc guy)

What exactly would they set in the computer that would make a difference? Do you think they restrict the HP for the first 1000 miles?

same..... do magical mileage difference.

It could loosen up over time but it would be hard to feel the 5-10 hp.

The weather is probably a little better so the car feels peppier.

have you ever owned a turbo car before? cause in my personal experience with my mazda weather plays a HUGE roll, cool humid nights and the thing might as well be a rocket ship, hot dry days forget it its like driving a shopping cart

Oh ya I know what you mean. The change in performance throughout a day can be very noticeable, almost day and night. (pun intended)

If the SS gets even more speed after 1000 miles, I'm really going to get myself in trouble.

yes i have.

91 isuzu impulse awd
89 mkiii supra
04 srt-4

89supercharged mr2

the reason i asked the question is because of what i noticed. my wife also noticed an increase in performance. the weather stayed pretty much the same during the month of july. also these cars do just the opposite of what the older turbo cars would do. the hotter and worse the air is the car will bump up performance to get close to the stock performance level. when it's cold, the ecu will tell you " i see you are getting too much power over stock and i want to be at stock,so lets cut back the boost!!!"

what i feel now in barricade is like ...driving with tc off, when it's actually on,if that makes sense. just barly hitting the gas will break the tires loose, compared back to the first week of having it and applying the same amount of pressure.
