Can't say about the part number, but for that price, I would bet you got conventional oil.

Nope. You don't have to keep a record. My family never has since my dad does all the work himself, and we've had plenty of new cars over the years. Even leases, and that is never a problem either.

Did you even drain the oil!!!

I let mine take up to an hour draining, but I usually have nothing else going on so I'm not in a hurry.

If you do your own, I would suggest keeping receipts of the oil and filter purchases and keeping a record of when you did the service. With powertrain warranty they may be needed as proof that you maintained the vehicle. READ YOUR WARRANTY BOOKS!

Remember people GM is hurting! Warranty is one expense they are trying to reduce! Keeping doucumentation can only protect you.

Number is not good. No history, zip, nothing. Probably a dealership internal number for oil. I would call the dealer.

Just had my oil changed at the dealer, and saw them using NAPA synthetic, which is NOT on the GM4718 (high performance) approved list. Needless to say, I was not satisfied and the issue was corrected.

dknopp is correct that is not a GM part number. But we don't use a GM part number either since all oil quantities are billed at the same price and it comes in bulk. But if it is a synthetic we use the Mobil 1 part number which is 12346184.

Yeah, I have a little notebook where I keep track of all the work I do on my cars, and document the date, what was done, and the mileage. I don't save receipts though.... I probably should.
