Oh, not only did it take them 3 hrs to get me in and out, I just got a call and they forgot to put my dipstick back in. They want "me" to drive there to pick it up

Mistakes are a part of life, it's how you handle them that sets dealers apart. Not offering to delivery/install the dipstick (which I'll get them to do) is an example.

I know, don't say it, I can buy oil/filters at Wallmart, change it myself, in less than 5 minutes, without jacking up the car or getting my hands dirty.

 

When I asked at the dealership about a Mobil 1 oil change, I was quoted $89. But I could bring in my own oil, which I did. I had a coupon for $20 worth of service. So they rotated the tires ($17) and used their filter and I walked out paying $4+ change. The HHR is one of the easiest cars to change oil on. It is high enough off the ground that even an old fat guy like me can climb under to get at the drain plug. The oil filter comes out the top. I save the jug that the oil comes in, pour the old oil in and take the jug back to Wal-Mart for recycling.

Right now I have 55% DIC oil life left after 7000 miles..lots of highway mileage on this oil change.

 

Well that explains the long wait... they were one dipstick short !

This was the same Dealership that I went to to buy my SS Panel, but was told by the Sales Manager after he had checked with GM (right!) that the SS did not come in a Panel. Ordered it two hours later from a different Dealership. Location is convenient but OMG.

Got a coupon for a free oil change (which I wouldn't use). But think about it, with it I am getting close to the same cost as the Wallmart do-it-yourself price
AND - I get my dipstick delivered to my door for no additional charge, you do-it-yourselfers can't even come close to that!

 

Before I traded it in for the HHR SS, I brought my Cadillac CTS to the dealer for an oil change last November with a promo coupon. They charged me $59.95 and stated "5 qts Mobil 1" right on the bill.

I just had my oil changed at a GM dealer. The breakdown of the bill is as follows for a synthetic oil change with Mobil 1 oil.

$8.95-filter
$49.95 for 5L of Mobil 1 oil (no bulk discount for 4L jug)
$12.75-labour

Total of $72.45+tax

Hope that helps. They also typed in font- Mobil Synthetic Oil on the first page.

That way there is no issue re warranty claims in the future- as per Chevy Mgr.

My Labour got buried into a tire (nail) I had repaired. But comparing prices I would sure hope it is Synthetic.. Many thanks

 

Still stumped on the GM part number for the (Mobil) Synthetic. No listing in Service Manual either. My first service oil change was $12.95 labor and $53.48 oil and filter (includes tax) at the local Chevy dealer only reference is Synthetic Oil 01CVZ. I have changed it myself since then.
