2008 HHR production numbers

Try compnine.com. Since yours has the AA5 option, it'll show on your build sheet and also tell you how many were built with that option in your same model year. It's like $5 and you can check more than one VIN, I can't remember how many though.

Manual Tran
Well there are few limited slip 22.6% as there are few 5 speeds 28.1%.
GM stated from the start they expected sales for the Auto were going to be 70%. I think GM just built these numbers and the dealers ordered what they could.
The entire manual market is declining every years and are a hard sell in anything outside a sports car. I would assume since most HHR sales already are Auto 91.5% GM played it safe and did not over build the speeds.
If you want more 5 spped or 6 speed cars in the future teach a kid to drive one. That is the only way the market will grow.

I am holding on to my Chevy HHR. I Love this car!

Yes - it is very hard to find a manual thanks to insurance companies- they won't insure driver's education for students unless it is an automatic- so no one is learning how to really drive. And we manual's know that you aren't really diving unless its a manual! :)

Hyperv6 has made some great contributions to the site, but hasn't been around for a couple years, so he isn't going to see your post.
I agree with you, as long as I can operate a clutch, I will be driving a manual trans!
