Luckily the SS's wheels are ez to get at to clean. My Silverado's are a PITA to clean up and sucks up way too much time at wash time.

I went ceramic on the truck the last brake job, and it cut down dust next to nothing(but like was mentioned, i noticed a lil less stopping "power"with 'em)

Plans are to go slotted and/or drilled rotors in the SS's future but not sure which route to go on pads.

I've had great luck with my two GM vehicles before this one: my C5 Vette, and my LT1 TransAm.

A lot of high performance vehicles will have nasty brake dust like this. I know at least that the prior generation BMWs had terrible brake dust. My brother's AMG Mercedes does as well.

Seems to be the price you pay for non squeaky high performance brake pads.

GM doesn't know brakes. Never did.

The excess front brake dust can be eliminated by having your dealer replace the front brake pads with Delco ceramic pads, part number 19157892. They stop just as good to me, and produce hardly any dust at all.

I have had success in cleaning the wheels with a wash mitt. It's just slender enough to allow the fingers to get between the spokes. Jamming a traditional sponge in there is a little difficult.

Ya, but under warranty?
Prob not. But likely most of us will go ceramic or other pads w/ less likelyhood of giving off dust when the time comes to change 'em out.(I know i will )

I use a long handled brush(prob was originally designed to be for that use-tires/wheels,, of the soft bristle kind) and it cleans pretty well, especially past the spokes to get the inside rim area (that seems 2 ft wide LOL)
Every time i rotate the tires, i clean n' wax up the back/inside areas and it seems to allow things to clean up nicely.

They will do it under warranty of you ask. You'll probably have to talk with the service manager, but it should be no problem. I know the warranty claim will go through, and get paid without any special authorization of any kind.

call these guys

they have recommended pads for all my cars now and they know their stuff , for the hhrss we went with the centric posi quiet pads and they have been minimal or no dust and great performance
Never had a squeal issue on EBC here. In fact they are the only ones on my Sonoma that never squealed and lasted more then 30,000 miles. Sonoma and S10's had poor brakes.

Most brake squeal is from a lose pad due to installation or lose or warn mounting hardware.

How true!

BTW - every person that sees my SS comments on the wheels. And rightfully so.
