2009 HHR SS Panel Roll Call

Hello, I’m new to this forum and would like to share something I just read. Hemmings Motor News (Sept.2024) is reporting that there were only 216 built and of those, only 38 were equipped with a five-speed manual transmission. I did not realize how rare this particular configuration is and am now wondering how many are still on the road or being stored as a collector’s item. As a side note, I’m also curious how many were equipped with the G85 option - limited slip differential. Would love to hear from all 38 owners although I suspect that a few of these cars have passed on to the graveyard. Cheers!

Even more rare is the 2009 SS with no windows in the rear side panel, but has a rear seat and windows in the rear doors , option AA5 only 199 built
Theres a 2009 SS panel for sale in our market place, but it’s an automatic. Still a nice car!

Elsewhere very recently, an owner claims to have sold (in just a day or two, it seems) a 2009 SS Panel, G85, 20K miles. Asking price was $30K. No way of knowing the selling price, of course. But SS panels are climbing! Maybe not so much on AA5 because it's "just" an option, not it's own model. It's a distinction that in a rational world shouldn't matter, but this is car collecting.

So reading this, the AA5 option in 2009 had rear seats and not the work deck?

the rarity of the AA5 at only 199 built with a 5 speed manual is important. They are climbing in price the SS is an option to , the panel version is also an option, in 2009 the SS panel , 5 speed manual transmission, with the Brembo brakes option and Imperial Blue metallic paint is the rarest combination, only 4 were built.
And collectors go nuts over a 69 Camaro SS 350, 4Bbl , 4speed manual, 1128 of those were built but those are considered very rare.

The AA5 half-panel was "just" an option. Full panels are their own models. This might at least partially explain why the SS full panels seem to be much more desirable than the SS half panels, even though their rarity is more or less equal. Also, full panels are differenter. 🤪

When I ordered, the SS or the AA5 or the panels were an option for the HHR model
