Don't get me wrong, the 2.0L in the SS is a very cool engine with a very high hp/ci (efficient) coefficient. The whole car is awful darn cool, just not a super performance machine. I drove both the M5 and A4, with the M5 being a little more fun because of the available LSD. If I could get the LSD in the A4, that would be perfect.

Happy motoring!

LOL.......a 25K car is never going to be a "SUPER PERFORMANCE MACHINE".....but what is this about "not useful for the daily driver"....are you kidding??????

Who are you racing on your way to and from work????
Do you think 400+hp is useful?????
Do you think a 60000 two seat car is usefulll???
If you want to go fast, and have "useful power', quit wasting your time with a slow expensive zo6 and get a bike.....lol......faster ...cheaper.....more fuel efficient.....

My father wonders why i never ask to borrow his 03 vette that has the same amount of miles as my april 08 hhr ss.....

My answer is that i can fit anything in it...........

With gas over $4.00, I say the manual is the way to go, my wife is averaging 22-23 in town driving, and we get 31+ on our weekend trips. Driving a stick gets pretty automatic after a while, especially as easy as the SS is to operate, besides, the longer I have it,and the more miles I get on it, the faster it runs. Its pretty darn quick actually. Sure pisses off fat Hemi trucks, and a diesel ford once in a while too!

The 5 speed is definitely the way to go in these cars, if you don't mind rowing your own gears.

The problem is that it doesn't appear as if GM made very many of them with the 5 speed! It took me a lot of pain to find mine, there were only 3 5-speed SS's left within a 120 mile radius of myself (at least according to dealer searches).

In fact HHRs are selling like hotcakes (most of the dealers I called are saying they cannot keep them on the lots) what with the price of gas and all. That bodes well for us HHR enthusiasts!

Kidding about what? What's the use of adding power but shifting it so high in the useful RPM range that you have to be driving near redline to utilize it?

I don't race on the street, I only drive irresponsibly responsible at the road course. Is a two seat 450+ horsepower car useful? For me yes. I enjoy driving the car like it was designed to be driven; mine isn't a garage queen. I've got 67,800 miles and counting on the Z06, it's been my daily driver since I purchased it new in '03.

Don't even go there, been there done that and don't enjoy bikes. If you think a Z06 is slow, you obviously have never driven or ridden in one. Come on by with a change of underpants and I'll introduce you to a real car.

And your point is? Oh, he's got a garage queen. What's the fun in owing a car if you never drive it? Corvette starts with 'C' because they are superbly engineered for road courses and corners, why not use it for what it was designed?

Why do you have be a ***** about all this? I was just pointing out that the HHR is a nice car with a very high tech engine. I like them or I wouldn't have purchased one. So why don't you mellow out and contribute positively instead of being a stereotypical Corvette hater?

Sierra auto in Monrovia has a black m5 SS I drove it nice except for the rattle behind the sterio. I went with the auto the clutch in the m5 so soft no feel but smooth felt like you needed to rev the motor to get moving lack of clutch feel IMO.. I'm not disapointed in the auto I'm sure the tuners can help it out soon.
OOO WOW now don't go haten on corvettes you might bight off more than you can chew.
