Was this deal on an SS Panel, and are you getting the employee discount or something?

No employee discount. They were the only dealer that gave me their best without an order or coming in for a pressure session. Nice place to do business

What was the base price? I am assuming it has gone up since some options have become standard (Side airbags, XM). Also wondering if anybody knows how much the LSD/Brembo option is.

How can dealers give you a better discount on a special order vs a lot sale?

Got word yesterday that GM is going to drop several of their big cars for 2009 and smaller cars prices are headed up to replace anticipated lost revenue from the dropped car lines . There is some speculation that they will not honor "locked in" pricing on 2009 because some of the dealers jumped the gun on pricing ! Glad I didn't wait for 09s . Ordered an 08 and have been driving it now for 2000 miles !! Love the car !!!--o6designs-KATZUP

I doubt that will be the case. They have to keep pricing on their smaller models competitive with other brands, they would only further hurt their bottom line by making buyers less likely to choose their cars, i.e. raise prices significantly. Not unless all the competition does the same.

I guess they will have to try and make up the difference in volume. No doubt they are hurting because their high-profit vehicles like trucks and SUVs are just not selling. Go visit any dealer's lot and you will see mostly big trucks and SUVs. I noticed Nissan has a $5K rebate on the Titan, and so does Chevy on the Avalanche.

The manufacturers are going to have to find a way to improve MPG on these vehicles, and most people aren't likely going to shell out $5-10K extra for a hybrid system just to get 10% better MPG.

More than likely they'll stick it to ya for a few hundred extra on top of the normal yearly whack (increase). What you gonna do- especially after you've driven one and the hook is set ? Everything goes up-just wish the wages would keep pace !---o6desgns-KATZUP

EMPLOYEE pricing is defined by GM with two options:

1) for a factory order it is Dealer Invoice plus $100
2) negotiated best price from the dealer and get 10% off that from GM.

Option ONE is usually the best price and I assume it is structured that way as the dealer profit is marginal and with a factory order they have little invested in the deal. However if a Dealer wanted to clear inventory they could obviously match and/or better that for the customer by attractively pricing option two for them.
