Automatic SS brake problems -- dealer results

Okay, I know there is another post about the braking issues, but I wanted to hear everyones results from their complaints to the dealers.

Mine has just started this brake issue after 3200 great miles. If I let the vaccum pressure drop to 15 Hg before I drive I have no real issue, but if I just take off after start-up the brakes hit the floor.

What results has everyone seen from taking this problem into the dealer and complaining.

re-program the BCM

I took mine in with the problem in early august. They reprogrammed the brake control module. This past Wednesday I had the 'brake to the floor' happen again. That was after idleing for at least 10 second (which I do as routine now).

I don't know whether to bother to even take it in again. Nothing will be done to resolve the problem.

I wonder why not all are doing it? There has to be a link somewhere?

I seriously wonder if this has to do with the leak in the boost system, since the turbocharger and brake systems share boost. We've seen a lot of people with major boost leaks. I wonder if they are more likely to get the startup braking problem. Even if you just have a minor boost leak that wouldn't otherwise be noticed (i.e. typical max boost of 14 instead of 15 psi, etc.) I would make perfect sense to show up as an overnight pressure loss for the brake system.

I had though about this too.

I noted that it looks like it shows up around 3K-7K miles in many cases. Though I have seen a few start at lower miles.

1k

I've got just over 1k on mine. It just happened again this afternoon on the way to wallyworld. Had to rev 2500rpm to build up any vac and get some resistance in the pedal.

The boost sharing issue is what I was wondering too. I see no issue with the turbo piping. Is there any place I sould look more closely at?

It was boosting just fine this afternoon, but that doesn't mean a thing. It still could have an issue.

I heard that one guy got a new '09. Is that true?

that is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen posted... Take it to a different dealer if you have a problem with yours, don't just assume they wont get anything resolved.

I don't have mine here to look at. But is there a reserve vacume taker on this and if so is it loing pressure?

We always use a extra Vac Can on car with too much over lap on the cam. They never had enough vacume and this would build it up and hold it so we would have brakes.
