Baby got hailed on
I dropped the truck off at the dealers for the insurance guy to look at tomorrow. They have over a hundred customers booked in with hail damage. There lot did not get the hail but the GMC dealer down the road got hammered like me. We will see how good my insurance company is tomorrow.
The dent removal people will come to town just like a circus. they will sert up in rented buildings doing work for insurance companies and dealers.
One was here so long he even had a sign made up and he was here 6 months.
I thought last Saturday we were in for it again as I saw Ping Pong size hail stones but they did not do any damage. But now in CaNTON Ohio about 10 miles away they got a few baseball size stone they showed on the news.
If we have global warming why do I keep getting Ice dumped on me [Ha Ha]
Good luck but I think you will end up ok. I saw some badly damaged cars here that came out like new. No paint no fuss.
Oh if your not happy with anything make them fix it as some of these dent guys are better than others. THe good ones will finx near anything the first time.
They will repair the car with new hood and paint , remove dents or cut me a check for $5000. Dealer will take the damaged car ( 250 miles on odometer) and order me an 09 but they need $11,533 difference. They will give me an extra $1300 off if they can take the 08 now while I wait for the 09 to come in. With my $1500 GM bucks and the $5000 insurance check it will work out to $3700 difference to move up to an 09 that will have the air bags side curtance and the other improvements. Don`t know what to do

I was al set to get rid of the car and when I got it back it was fixed right and I still have it today. At this point I was glad I did not pay the extra money to buy a new one.
The question is do you feel you will be satified with their repairs to the point they will not bother you. Most others will not notice or care. It is how you will feel about it that determinds it it worth the extra money to upgrade to the 09.
I think $3,700 is a steep price to pay for a car with this kind of damage that can be repair at no cost to you. Now if it had hit a pole or something like that I would have greatrer issues.
Remember they have to repair it and repair it right so if there is something wrong make them fix it till your satified and do not sign off till then.
I hope you can get this to the point your going to be happy.
Why does the dealer want it now so bad. Are they just going to pop the dents and resell it at your loss of $3,700?
I have a guy locally here that is the best and he can remove the dents with out anyone knowing they were there.
Most of these guys are good and can do a top notch job. At worse if there is a place they can not reach they will drill a small hole inside some where like they used to for Zebart and work the dent out and plug the hole.
Most times they can fix the worse hail damaged car in a few hours. No painting, no body work and no hassels.
The paintless way is not just the cheapest way but also the best way to fix this.

My local guy charges by the dent. Some he has done for only $25. I have had him take out 2-3 difficult ones in my truck and he did them for less than $75.
He does a lot of dealer cars. He said his most fun is taking a happer to a Jag in the show room to fix a ding.
There are come franchised dent removers and many independent ones. You may ask your dealer who they use and how good of a job they offer.
The guy I have has done it for years and is a artist in stretching and shrinking metal.
Paintless dent removal is something I never thougt much off till a co worker filled me in on it. It has saved me a lot of dings and body shop bills. I wish I had know about it much sooner. It is amazing what most good repairmen can do.
If you get a good one you will be happy with the results.

i would search google for PDR forums (paintless dent removal)
maybe you can find a good reference locally.
last I remember I think they charge dealers per panel.
Some of these guys are so good you would never tell, however it should go on your carfax as a hail repair. so maybe you can get diminished value from your ins. company.
the dealer would try to repair and sell it before it was reported by carfax.
and they can only sell it as used, since it already has been titled.
It may be worth keeping if you get extra cash out of the deal for the DV..
just a thought.

just an update. Insurance guy said new hood, repair and paint roof and dent removal for sides or $6200 pay out. The local dent remover guy said there were a lot of areas he could not get in behind and I would not be happy with the job. With hundreds of damaged cars the hail damage guys have moved into town. These guy pull dents by attaching glue sticks to the out side and pulling them out. After they wash with solvent to release the sticks. The dealer ship call and said they have seen a number of black cars these guys have fixed and they are perfect. Went to show them the car and they said no problem. Estamate is $5,129.00 and they will repair every thing inclueding the hood with out painting a thing.
