x2. Kudos! I would do the same, however I know people who would view this situation (being rear-ended) as something akin to hitting the jackpot. You scored some karma points for sure!

Personally I would go through the girl's insurance; that's what it is for anyways. If there is some sort of unseen damage (20mph is pretty fast) you will be covered. To me this sounds like a texting while driving accident...the girl is lucky no one was hurt seriously. Just my .02 cents

I feel for you. Mine is currently in the body shop for the exact same problem. I was rear ended by a girl about a week ago.

Cost for mine so far is estimated at $931. I do have some minor body damage too though. Still waiting to hear what they find when the bumper comes off, since my rear hatch does not line up like it should either......

Don't take it the wrong way...to me being rear ended is not hitting the jackpot, rather a PITA. If you can resolve the situation without insurance great! Just sayin...

Getting an estimate can be free or cost money. Call around and get 2-3 and then call the girls family with the price. If they whine about it, then file with insurence, if not then let them pay for it. I had damage to my car door before turn into 1k+ because of replacement part + blending of the paint to more then just the new part. Plus you have the bumper cover, the support piece.

As per http://www.gmpartshouseusa.com/partl...layCatalogid=0

Bumper cover : $504.04
Absorber: $82.16
Impact bar: 142.64
and another $40 for the brackets for it, you are already at $750 for parts without paint. I would guess around $1500 for it to get fixed properly.

We had our rear bumper replaced after getting smacked in a mall parking lot. The cost of replacement and paint and labor was just over $1200.

I noticed a little while ago it looks like my rear bumper was repainted by the previous owner. I never noticed until just now...there's a small run in the paint, and a dust spot... Whoever did it did a pretty good job, if I didn't notice for almost 2 years! I'd go back to them if I ever needed anything done!

Make sure nothing under the bumper cover is bent. Pull out your spare tire and look and see if your floor pan is rippled also.

Thanks for all the kind words friends, Again theres not much to see, a couple of puncture wounds. lol Maybe karma is already at work, ? The damage is slight , The brackets do not appear or feel broken. Sunflower , I went to GMparts house and my price for all the parts (thanks for doing that)
showed a my price at $575.18 for all the parts, And another $100.00 for shipping. Add say $175.00 for paint and a $100.00 for my labor (beer supplies) Thats $950.00 More than there $500.00 deductable, But over the long run it would probally save them alot , (proving she has learned to be a bit more aware of PEOPLE STOPPED IN FRONT OF HER ! So , The car probally does not need all the parts , The lines are all still strait , Nothing is out of whack . So do i offer her parents a $950.00 and your done deal, Showing them the prices at gmpartshouse.com that i will buy, and install. Is that fair ? Not sure what to do . I know i'll provide a bit more percision with the install than the local GM Geek Squad. And i will farm the paint out after finding someone close buy that knows what hes doing.

What do the masses subjest ? lol Heres a pic , the worst puncture is right under the reflector, The lines are just dirt from wiping the bumper with a dirty rag.
