Can you turn SS Side Skirt into Running boards?

The “Side Skirts” on an SS the look to be about the same width as the factory offered Running Boards. Could the “Side Skirts” be converted into Running Boards by just adding a long rubber step pad and if so do they use similar mounting brackets so they could hold some weight and really be used.

I am asking because my 4-year old grandson will be in the back seat A LOT and they would be useful to him plus I like the looks of the running boards as they add to the Retro Look and it would be a lot cheaper then buying $500.00 + factory running boards.

Thank you,

Evad

SS side skirts have the angled slope. Adding the rubber pads isn't going to help much in using it as a step. The grandkid could easily slip off and get hurt. Plus, I don't think it would look good anyway.
Best way is either get the factory LT type running boards or leave it as is.

Thanks that pretty much answered my question and I'll just save up and buy the Running boards

I'm in the same boat. Never found anyone trade with locally, I just deal with it. I have a 3 & 5 year old.

Do not add pads to the SS rockers as if you step on them they will break. They are not steps.
