Well it looks like I spoke too soon. As I drive away from my house today, right after making that previous post saying everything is fixed. I get the engine light again and immediately go down to Autozone to have it read.
P0497
Its a new code, different from before but similar to the P0496 which I thought was fixed by replacing the EVAP purge solenoid and the gas cap.
Any thoughts on what to do now?

Well, now it has gone to LOW purge flow! Could you have damaged the connectors on the new purge valve?
The purge valve is normally closed. When they get stuck open you get the P0496 where there is a flow when not commanded. Now, evidently it is not opening on command. Maybe the vacuum hoses got bent or the electrical didn't get plugged in good etc.
Other thing could be the vent valve has gone bad. (The EVAP valve near the gas tank.) Wouldn't be too surprising for both to malfunction.

So for the connection... would a quick shot of WD40 help?
I'm thinking the EVAP valve at the tank also. Is that diff to get to and should I change the Canister as well?

The canister doesn't go bad and is pretty expensive the valve is about $15-$25.
The hoses or the electrical may be faulty. If the hose on the tank side is not connected or the electrical is faulty could do it.
This is mis named:

But what is the jumper wire for? It sounds like its just simply an extension of the existing wire.

Get the other/cheaper kit, you don't need the jumper. They charge $10-$15 for it. It is for 2006-2007 cars. If AZ only carries the one try the other guys in town.
