Why would it? They are just taking using the solid rear quarter panel from a panel HHR. I'm sure a solid piece of metal is cheaper than the version with the window. They are probably making more money if you take the solid rear quarter panel.

Yea, I guess you're right... I am just used to companies trying to squeeze every last dollar out of people...

At least people can get the running boards at no extra cost...

Doubtful. The dealers can't even order them yet, and it takes 6-8 weeks to get a car after it is ordered. We are still looking at months. My dealer (which usually gets first allocation due to its size) isn't expecting to be able to order until late November or early December (which means we won't see these cars until 2008).

I wonder if these "more bang for the buck" prices on the HHR's will mean a better than expected starting price for the HHR SS...
