CITY driving average milage????

Just wondering what everyone is getting in the city, normal driving.
My wifes SS after 2 fill ups is getting 17 MPG.
I'm not to happy with getting such low mileage considering see is babying the car with only 500 miles on it.
I hope the MPG goes up as we put more miles on the car.
So anyone drive in around town with an average MPG?

That sounds about right. These cars are not going to get you good MPG in city driving. It isn't until I get on the interstate that the MPG goes up. When driving around town, it's less than 20 MPG.

Yah, getting up to speed/stop n go driving in town seems to really suck up the gas.
I've noticed this while having the instant mileage up on the DIC.
Seems like it stays real low if i take my time getting up to speed b4 i level off, so i tend to get up there a lil faster and then level off the gas and watch the numbers go up nicely(plus it's more fun leaving a light next to "other " cars and pulling away pretty good )

Our 2008 SS (Auto) EPA Estimate is 19 City with an expected range of 15-23 MPG so you are right on target.

On my current tank of gas, all around town has been running 21 mpg, lots different from the 30+ when I have some highway milage on a tank of gas. I've never seen it this low. Also, all the gas around here has 10% ethanol which is affecting my milage.

I'll see whats up next week as I have a 9 hour road trip scheduled, all I95.

I do mixed driving between the expressway & city and I get roughly 25 to 26 on average. It does seem that the little monster likes to run around 90mph with out me noticing (or not wanting too) and it doesn't seem to affect milage that much. I have not seen the 30+ I have seen some people are.

I tried to see how good my mileage could be one morning on the way to work and I averaged over 31. But I didn't buy an SS to drive it like an LS. Since I see between 20-21. My commute is a good mix of interstate and stop and go traffic.

on a tank that is spent only around town, i am usually between 18.5 and 20.5 mpg. i like getting on the highway though, if i get 2 or 3 trips in on one tank to my neighboring town, about 1/2 hour away, i see around 30mpg average for the tank. i am now at a little over 7200 miles. it did seem to get a tiny bit better as i got 1000-1500 miles on it.
