Clutch upgrade?

Out of curiosity, I don't see many people mentioning clutch upgrades for these cars. When do our stock units let go? It feels fairly strong, but then again I have not done any modifications yet.. and since GM doesn't void the warranty for the Stage 1 upgrade (315-340 ft-lbs), it only makes sense that even 340 ft-lbs of twist isn't stressing the clutch too much.

Mine has started to slip a bit at 100k. If I'm gently cruising on the highway in say 4th then gun it, when the boost builds up the tach goes a little jumpy. Not sure what I'm going to do for replacement. I first noticed it about 10k miles ago, and my usual shop wants about $700 to replace it (about $500 if I bring my own clutch) and I have other bills...so the easy answer was don't stomp the throttle in 4th from low rpm

Depends how uou drive it. With any tune available for this car the clutch will slip. To make the stocker last dont get into boost in too high of a gear. As far as what to get i run a ky stg3. I have a write up and an install how to (that i borrowed) on here simewhere

Hubby had to replace his at over 400 Ponies stocker wouldnt hold... He did a Spec 3+ http://www.specclutch.com/cars/Chevy/HHR/2008/Single the Spec clutch is also in the Honda at over 700 Ponies. Turboed and 100 shot of NOS and it holds...http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k37/gcsd3742/Texsin/ So with that being said I highly believe in them...
