cobalt and hhr ss tranny question
#12
some people might be saying it's a different trans for the sheer fact that a lot of people aren't aware of the new SS/TC, as opposed to the old SC models. i know a couple times i have seen people on here post and ask "will this Cobalt SS clutch work in the HHR SS? it's the same trans, right?" and they put a link...follow the link, and you'll find a clutch listed for an SS/SC. i believe the SS/SC and SS/TC trans are indeed different. i have no connections to Chevy to double check that, so someone like ChevyMgr could confirm/deny that. so before ordering the clutch, make sure it's for an SS/TC and NOT an SS/SC.

I'm not sure where the confusion in this thread is coming from but the OP asked about a Cobalt SS/TC, which would be 2008 & 2009. I stated the transmissions are both MU3s but have different part numbers. I posted the clutch part numbers for a 2008 SS turbo cobalt and a 2008 SS turbo HHR.
As far as the 2005-2007 SS supercharged cobalt I did not post on that and I am not saying the parts are the same as the 2008 HHR. The 05-07 Cobalt also has a MU3 transmission but the clutch is a different part number than the 2008 HHR and 2008 Cobalt so the tranmission may also be.
Ok hope I am clearer on that. Yes? No? Clear as mud?

My post was in no meant as a dis to you. I appreciate you talking the time to look up and post the part numbers. That's given me the warm and fuzzy I need to move forward and upgrade my clutch. Now I just have to find the dollars to do so!

the yo-yo that answered the phone put me on hold for like 5 mins. so I hung up then called back and he said I'm the only one here and he didn't know nothing about what I was asking? He didn't even know what a HHR was.... So I said um ok I'll call someone else. and hung up

Ya'll should contact TurboTechRacing, one of our site sponsors and great to deal with about clutches.
I just bought a Spec Stage 3+ from them after consulting with a Spec application engineer about my supercharged 2.4.
In these small displacement engines, a lightweight flywheel can be tough to deal with, both from normal starting to hard launching. Another thing to be careful about is the "puck" type clutch discs. They can be very touchy engaging.
Good luck all!!
