And you did change the thermostat with an AC Delco 131-158, right?
the green stuff was great for a cast iron block and head engine of 20 or more years ago
had a garage do it. They got the oil cooler & thermostat from a local Chevy dealer. Hopefully it’s the right one Temp now gets no hotter than 185
What is a 131-158 what’s the temp. It will open
where is the radiator drain plug on these cars or do they have one --been taking the lower radiator hose off which is a pita in itself -- having to flush multiple times to get the oil residue out
The rad drain is down on the passenger side of the rad facing the engine It’s conveniently placed above the v shaped brace allowing the coolant to spill everywhere, so make sure Fido isn’t around to lick it up! Not good for animals!
Ok I posted some while back about oil in my coolant -- replaced the oil cooler & thermostat --flushed rad. 4-5 times filled with Dexcool still when you poke your finger in the top of rad. it is very oily -Could this be possibly be residue from when it gummed up cloggeg the thermostat & overheated -- A compression test was performed along with a leak down & a combustion (sniff )test all was good !after the work was done .
If I am still getting oil in the coolant after replacing the oil cooler (oem GM) since oil & coolant run through the turbo -Is it likely the turbo seals are shot -- I cant think of another place where oil could be getting in the coolant -- Am I right --think the tests that were performed would tell me if it was a blown head gasket or cracked head or block -- About ready to upgrade the intercooler & a few other mods but dont want to if the turbo is shot - Idont think there is any test to see if the seals are bad in turbo ,,are there? Still building good boost 22-23
