Cost of a complete brake job on HHR SS with brembos

I have an HHR SS 2009 with Brembo brakes and was quoted about $1000 for a complete brake job. Needless to say, I feel this is a bit high. I would appreciate any feedback on this matter if someone has had the same work done by a shop lately. Again, its a complete brake job on all four wheels with new rotors and pads at a non-dealer shop.

if you got space or garage then do it yourself, these are really easy cars to do the brakes on even with the brembo upgrade. I just did mine, and 09 SS auto without the brembo's, parts off ebay for $150 (rotors and pads all around)
one weekend to do the job ( i painted my calipers and top hats on my rotors) less if not painting and you have jack stands (i did not, I had to jack up each corner about 5 times each for cleaning, priming and painting, then the job itself!!)
save that money for more mods and do it yourself!

I'll break the whole car for $100 + travel expenses. I'll bring my own sledge hammer.

Wonder if that is because they intend to replace the calipers at the same time. The pins have a habit of seizing on the calipers. Otherwise the price to pay someone to do all four should be in the $400-500 range tops.

You had another brake thread a while back where you misspelled the same word, over and over.
I fixed his breaks...err...brakes for him George.

A grand does seem salty even for a Brembo equipped HHR, but if they're talking about doing loaded calipers, maybe.

Thanks Mike. I just deleted my previous post. I don't want to seem like an a** by being too critical of his spelling.

(p.s. What ever happened to that firetruck smiley you were looking into? Only 1.5 months till I retire and I won't be a firefighter anymore)

SS parts are something like sailboat screwdrivers.

I bought all new parts(including GM new calipers) and upgraded to Brembos for less than $450, and it is a simple bolt on type job. No reason to cost $1000.

Is the Brembo option just different front calipers or are the rotors different also? And what about the rear?
