while driving home from work a few times now i have hemi rams wanting to race i know i can pull them off the line but they will run me down looking for some good upgrades to boost more hp i know about the map sensor and ecm calibration any other things that can be done will help thanks
Welcome to the site skater.
You can get a tune, starts with gm stage 1= around 19lbs of boost
Or you can get an aftermarket tune and run 24 lbs of boost
I ended up with both, it's called select a tune.

Bringing back that 'old-school' wonderful, vacuum advance, part-throttle feeling LNF

i want to thank you all for the info will be looking into all the great options out their just want to know is the gm performance kit with the 2 new map sensors and ecm calibration worth it or should i go with a hp tuner
Well here are your options,
Stage Kits with calibration are running in the areas of:
$510 for the crimp connection version 19212670 Cobalt, Solstice, HHR Stage Kit 19212670 Which I wouldn't recommend.... everyone that I know of who used the this version ended up having issues, me being one of them.
$613 for the kit with the adapters, Cobalt, Solstice, HHR Stage Kit 19212670HK
Then you will need to take the car to a dealer to have it installed and programmed. That price is all over the board, it cost me $450 I believe and at first it was hard to find a dealer that would do it. It was after prodding from GM Performance that they decided they would try it and they made me pay dearly for it.
Before the stage kits were around I had bought a tune from someone which included HPT to load it. As everyone learned about the tuning of the LNF we massaged the stock tunes more and more but the stock sensors were an issue. At that point GM came out with the stage kit with the 3 bar sensors. (You can find a lot of that information in the old posts on this board, more on the cobalt sites) I blew the stock tune back in and took it in for the upgrade. I was sadly impressed with the stage kit performance when I picked it up. The modified tune I took out was night and day different from the stage tune.
Also, what those of us that tune our cars have found is that the factory 2 bar tune has less nanny features in it than the stage tune has. That being said we have learned to adjusted the factory tune for the 3 bar sensors and modify that tune to our liking.
The sensors and adapters is ~$145
CED LNF Stage Kit CEDLNF1
And as I posted above the lowest priced version of HPT is $499, That version will do what everything you will need too tune your LNF, you do the math. There are people on this forum that can help you, me being one of them. There are number of other on the HPT forum as well.
If you are going to tune other cars with a Wide Band I would recommend the pro version since upgrading to the Pro version later is more expensive.
Now you decide...

After 6 years of having the 3bar base stage tune, I really feel that whatever the 'nanny' features are, they are positive features, not negative , or harmful in any way. They probably have saved my 'buggy' many times, with me trying to 'push' the envelope with my some of my crazy 'tuning' ideas...
My best run down the track yesterday, was so awesome, powerful, & picture perfect, a 12.28 @ 112.67 MPH, & I beat a bad ass sounding S10 pickup with a small block V8 in it...
Believe me, I did try going back to the 2 bar stock 'base' tune, it see if it could release more 'power', or dependability, or anything, to better my 'buggy', but it didn't help at all.
So I really like the 3 bar 'base' stage GMPP 'tune', as I do think that the 'nanny' safety features, whatever they might be, have saved my ass, & don't affect performance....
I have really pushed the envelope with aggressive 'over-boosting', a ton of timing advance, & requested more torque, earlier, to hit harder, that could cause issues, & I'm glad that the safety 'nanny' features, are looking to protect my 'buggy'...

In fact, on my 1st run yesterday, I had tryed something that I thought would help, it was so crazy, & so wrong ,that the ECM went into 'death' prevention mode, with a P0606 code, that usually requires that the ECM needs replaced.
This P0606 code basically means that the PCM/ECM (powertrain/engine control module) has detected an internal integrity fault in the PCM, as the result of a bad ECM, or programming error.
The nanny features, threw this code as the result of really bad programming, as it knew that I had went to crazy...
