Curious: Did you test drive an LS/LT before you bought the SS?

Yes, I rented a LS HHR for a couple of weeks to be sure I liked the basic car, the size, and the other basic parameters. After driving it, I knew I'd be happy with one just like it but with the goodies the SS offers. Thats a cheaper way of finding out whether you like it or not, cheaper than selling it after you find you hate it or something.

Nope here too.
First time i gotten in a SS , let alone drive a HHR was when i backing mine out of the showroom, after signing the papers.
Not that it would have mattered, i knew i wanted one ,but my only concern was fitting my 6' 250#'s of spinal fused(bottom 3 to the tailbone) bod into it ,and getting out 1/2 way easily LOL. Of which i did pretty well considering i was driving a Silverado b4 the HHR.

New guy here. Hi.
I test drove a black SS then asked the sales guy to find me a red one with no sunroof (I wanted the extra head room) with an auto (I'm lazy). He found one and I wrote a check.
I didn't bother with a non-SS. I wanted a car with more HP and more room for my 2 little boys. They are 5 and 6 and not getting any smaller. I have about 1300 miles on the SS and so far it's been great.

I saw the ad for an hhr and they showed a custom panel I told my wife if they make a panel I am going to buy one. They did then it was research time.
I went to a dealer the salesman he did not hear of it sales manager did, but did not tell anyone. Test drove an ls then lt after that it my choice was an lt2. Then 2008 release of the panel and the SS were introduced. Checked with GM there were no plans for an SS panel so back to my first choice lt2 with 5 speed. Not any on the lot most all were automatics. I had to sell my beetle and get some money together. Being very much a procrastinator in the mean time GM announced the SS panel. Make a long story short test drove a SS the wait was real long almost as long as this post. BUT WORTH IT YEA!

I never actually drove an LT/LS but did ride in a rental. I always liked them just didn't think they had enough power for me. The first one I drove was a used SS with 1500 miles on it. The dealer wouldn't deal on it and it had the grey interior which I didn't really like. I ended up getting an identical brand new one but with the Ebony interior. And got it for $500 less than the used one.
