Mine's been a DD since I picked it up in June '09 (about 38.6K miles). I drive it in winter, but with the Pilots it was NOT good on snow. We'll see how the new ones do.

I've never done the "winter beater" 2nd car before. Just don't have the garage or driveway space. And I've always been a "I buy a car to drive it as much as possible"-type, though I will try to keep the miles down when I can. But if all goes according to plan, in Spring 2013:

Trade the SS for a Camaro 2SS.
Keep my wife's Ford Escape for my winter beater.
Buy my wife a new or slightly used minivan.

I guess my SS would be considered a DD. Since I am a semi-retired Custom painter/Artist, and work out of my home, I don't have to commute to work.
I don't put many miles on the SS, since I bought it new in 09, and just turned over 17K, last week. It does get driven a couple miles a day, somewhere, so it does'nt sit idle long.
No major problems so far, just a little noisy in the front end. Going to keep it for awhile. "Moon"

Drive everyday no matter what.....67,500 on my 09 now. Drove in last winters awful Northeast snow that we had........It's just a car........quick and fun......but in the end, it's just a car meant to be driven.

Mine has been a DD since I bought it new almost 3.5 years ago, and it now has 68K on it. There are maybe 2-3 days a year when the weather outside is so frightful (snow, ice, flooding) that I leave the SS home and take the Avalanche instead. I've never had an issue getting to work and back.

You are correct but in the end where it wears out you won't be able to go into the dealer and get another new one.
