I hit a deer last night, and after impact the engine started stumbling and the icons on the dash all lit up.
After several stumbling restarts, the engine started up,but the CEL was on, and I have no boost with a P101 mass air flow code.
The engine idles at 10 on the vacuum gauge and bounces between 8-12 with a rough idle.
Would this be the symptoms of a damaged intercooler????
I am new to Turbo problems, so any advice would be appreciated.

Sorry you’re SS got damaged, are you alright? Looks like there’s a hole in the intercooler. Perhaps time to upgrade to an aluminium on from ZZP?
of course there’s a how to for just such an incident

Sounds like it is a vacuum/ boost leak somewhere. The plastic end tanks of the intercooler are a known weakness. Is that a hole in the intercooler?

Glad to say that my wife and I are OK.
No air bag deployment, thank God.
I almost missed him,but I got his tail end..
It will be interesting to see how the insurance handles this

Do you think it would hurt anything if I drive it like this until I can get in a shop.
Body shops are backed up because of supply and worker shortages ( like everything else)

Thanks for the info on the ZZP intercooler. If they total it I will buy it back as a salvage and do that mod.

It looks like the fins are ripped back in the area shown in the pic, but I don't see any hole in the tubes, but hard to say without getting a better look at it.
It is leaking boost when I step on the gas, the gauge just goes to "zero" and that's it.

Could be an end tank damaged, they’re only plastic.
Good news you two are ok!

The P0101 kills the boost.

Interesting.
Could the impact have messed up the mass air flow sensor?

More likely that the vacuum leak is causing the P0101. Only 10" of vacuum at idle, should be 19" or 20".

Apparently the Potential causes for P0101 trouble code may include:
Dirty or contaminated mass air flow sensor
Failed MAF sensor
Intake air leaks
MAF sensor electrical harness or wiring problem (open, shorted, frayed, poor connection, etc.)
Clogged catalytic converter on some models (GMC/Chevrolet mainly)

ah, Intake air leaks , if the intercooler is cracked there’s the intake air leak.
