How do you pass a state inspection in Houston which is an emission test area?

That's funny. I've got some stickers that are worth 10 hp each.

I thought they sold mufflers that made your car sound like a rickety buzzsaw. Removing the emisions equipment to gain HP??? Come on man, grow up.

you're right... i forgot drag cars, f1, and the like run full emissions systems...

no one is disputing that it does give you a horsepower advantage, the questions is whether it is worth it or not... to some - yes... to others - no.

The couple of HP it may give you if the cat is old is one thing, a replacement cat is due. The question to whether is is worth it or not has been proven over and over. It's not. Thats for the car and any gains it will not get on removal nor to the environment it's hurting.

you've said this several times and i'm not disputing that it will hurt the environment... that's why i run a 3" high flow cat in my dp...

however, as you mentioned, the question is, "is it worth it?" for you, obviously not. for many others, it is...

In the Houston area there are hundreds if not thousands of shops that will inspect vehicles and pass them for an extra under the table fee.

Thats one reason I moved to Brenham. No emission testing. Of course I'll never remove my cat. I just like the $14 inspection.
