Exhaust

I need some help. There is a ton of pages and threads to go through. I'm trying to save some time. I need your opinions. Two years ago I did a K & N cold air intake. It totally changed the tune of my exhaust...deeeper & louder. I assume that if I change my exhaust from the cat down, that my sound will change. Any suggestions for exhaust?

I run both the GMPP/Borla exhaust, and Magnaflow on my HHR's, in my opinion the GMPP/Borla systems have a nicer "throaty" sound, while the Magnaflow is a bit raspy. That change in sound you noticed is more of an intake snarl, K&N intakes will give you a more of an aggressive induction sound. GMPP intakes seem to produce more of a "bark" under acceleration.

Many turbo guys just do a muffler delete, weld in a straight pipe, but keep the resonator.

CC, is this on an HHR ? Magnaflow sounds real nice, lots of HHR owners have used them.

i also run a K&N intake.. for an exhaust i am running a Hahn catless DP and Hahn full stainless exhaust that i salvaged off my first SS. when i bought this car it had a Magnaflow catback on it.
i found the Hahn catback to have a deeper tone then the Magnaflow. with the DP added it is much deeper, but kinda loud at 70+ mph.

personally love the way it sounds. turns a lot of heads in traffic

I have a Hahn catless dp stock piping and muffler delete. It can be loud at times but I love it Lots of pop and gurgle when lifting off the gas and wot is music to my ears.....It's not for everyone though. Cold start up is loud and obnoxious just the way I like it

The resonator is what give it a smoother deeper sound, with little restriction as its straight through. The muffler is what quiets it down. So if you are after performance then do a muffler delete. It will be loud, but its a good loud.
