Hmm... I just saw a picture of it. I have not seen it in person so I was only basing my statement on the photo I saw.

Typically those "customized" cars are painted interior pieces that peel off when the sun beats down on them while they are parked at the mall showing off their ride.

Your red paint will chip eventually as well. Just ask any Cobalt SS/SC owner.

What do you think of these dash overlays in the middle of this thread page? Also - why is the tan interior not offered with the SS?

Interestingly enough... This is the response I get.

From "any" Cobalt SS owner.

I have red inserts and they look brand new. The only reason I could see them being dirty is from people not cleaning their car for a long time and then they can't get it clean. The only thing that looks kind of dirty in my car is the embroidered SS symbol on the seats."

There is no way that they are painted cause the paint would come off/flake when ever you press against it. The insert part on the doors are soft not hard.

Love the Black/Red combination. Think it is striking and in keeping with the sports car theme of the SS. The Black/Black or Black/Grey (yawn) looks good too.

I have 2 friends w/ SS/SC and they both have chipping paint on their dash. My wife has an LT cobalt w/ silver trim and that is chipping as well.

Do a search on cobaltss.net and you'll find many owners w/ chipping interior paint....here's just one thread i found:
