Finally found myself a nice HHR SS :D
Bought my black 2008 in 2009 with 8000 miles on it for $17000
Traded it in a month ago, lifeless, unable to drive (but still looking great) with 170,000 miles for $2500 and a 2014 Toyota Sienna XLE.
Thought I would be out of the "fun car" game for a while but..........
Just bought a 2008 HHR SS 5 speed in Victory Red with only 12,200 miles on it for $15400 (tax, title etc included) from a Subaru Dealer. I take delivery in about 10 hours!!!! Very excited!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on the purchase
They are nice vehicles... and fast! Never thought the HHR would be able to move like the HHR SS does! Wish they had thrown the 2.0T into the sonic RS would have made a more entertaining "Performance Trim." would have been leagues ahead of the fiesta st and veloster turbo
I just looked at a 08 with 40k for $13,999. Looked at a 2010 with 65k for $11,995!!! Shouldve bought it but a wasted time and it sold before i pulled the trigger. Had an accident on the car fax but didnt have any signs of a major wreck.
Man that was frustrating... Sorry Vent post...
So I have been talking with a dealership in sacramento with regards to a 2008 SS 5spd $9,000 asking price... and they want to lowball me on my cobalt... I understand business is business, but FFS I know what my cobalt is worth... don't try and offer me less than what average market value is. They were only going to give me $4,000 for my 2010 cobalt XFE with 43k on the clock, fair market is between 6-7k for trade in. I have been offered 6k for it at a few other dealerships. I understand business is business... but having the salesperson give up over $2,000? that isn't a small sum of money... but for crying out loud :|

I know where you're coming from.
I've never traded in my old vehicle when buying a new one. I just sell my old vehicles myself. Simple fact is, the dealer is out to make a profit. They will try to make it on both ends of the deal if he can. The trade and the purchase. If they get a little less profit on the sale, they will try to make it up on the trade in. And vice-versa.
