Fuel pump!!!

I just thought i would let everyone know that i recently traded in my hhr ss on a silverdo. I kept having problems with my hhr so i decided to get a pickup that was built like a rock!!!!! lol but i was having problems with the engine and i kept getting an engine light and reduced power warning on my dash and since i was in the process of trading it in i didnt worry about getting it fixed. i scanned the obd2 port and got two codes i looked them up and it said fuel rail pressure system too low. so i thought since we were having cold weather here in minnesota it was the fuel freezing. but i later found out after i traded it in that the fuel pump went out on it. i dont know if anyone else has had this problem in their hhr but i just thougth i would let people know that the fuel pumps are crap in the hhr and my hhr ss only had 27,000 miles on it and i didnt even have it a year!!!! I enjoyed that car to death but just started to have too many problems with!!!!

Just because the fuel pump in your HHR ***** the bed, it doesn't mean that all the fuel pumps are crap.

Why do you say [ Chevy has had problems with their fuel pumps for years ]
out of all the cars & trucks that GM builds I think that it is a very small % that fail. Running out of fuel or running it very very low will shorten its life.
I have also replaced pumps in all other makes ours & theres. What about the old fuel pumps that were bolted to the eng. they went bad too. must be all pumps are junk

Once again 3rd party manufacturing comes to the front...hes right though..one bad apple doesn't ruin the whole basket....

I've owned a lot of GMs and never had a fuel pump issue.

What he said ^

The fuel pump is like anything else. In common manufacturing there will be a SMALL percent of parts that are defective. We cannot afford to have vehicles that have zero defects (100% inspection of 100% of the parts is not feasible, nor cost effective). So, in all brands there will be a small percentage of failures. Although the fuel pump is a bear to get at to change, it sure beats the he!! out of those old engine mounted diaphragm pumps. I can't remember how many of those I have changed over the years, on all makes....

I love statements like "MINE broke, so they are all crap." Statistical insignificance anyone?

Same here, I've never (knock on wood) had to replace an intank model, but several of those block style. Granted, the block style is a lot cheaper to replace.......

I had my mechanical fuel pump go bad on my HHR SS at 2K miles. It has been fine ever since. To say that GM has had problems with their fuel pumps for years is rediculous. I have had over 40 GM vehicles and this is the first one that had a fuel pump failure. Not a bad track record. The fuel pump has been the only problem with this vehicle so far. Anything mechanical can fail.
