Going to test drive some ss's today
Well put...
I truly use LSD, so this part tipped the scale for us. (Can't get limited slip with the HHR autos like my 2 GM pickups and SUV.) My wife, while driving our larger, leather interior luxury SUV of the family to work, LOVES driving the SS stick when she has the chance to. As you say, some feel you're more connected with the machine as we do.

I know that LSD is not a factory option with the autos. Automatics have open differentials. Did you install an aftermarket unit? I recall that a vendor had one available, but was not sure if it was for the automatic transaxle.
Nope just a few bolt on's. Idk. My buddy has one aswell and he leaves 2 patches behind him to. Ive read other people doing it aswell on here. Maybe some of you auto guys can tune in. Im not trying to start a argument Im just saying what ive experimented and seen, Ive seen plenty of threads on here stating it dosnt and does and auto guys asking why they have 2 tire marks behind them if they dont have LSD.
No, the autos don't have a limited slip. If both wheels have equal traction, both will spin, or neither. Once one wheel looses traction, then the power gets transfered to that wheel. Exactly the opposite of what you'd want. That's where traction control comes in, if the brake is applied to the spinning wheel, more power is transfered to the wheel with the higher traction, through the differential.

This deal with a limited. Slip brings back memories
I use to run an open non position diff. In my high 11 low 12 second 69 impala years ago.
Secret was in the tires and a 4000 stall converter.
I will take a non posi with sticky street tires over a posi with a regular radial Any day.
On the rwd cars first thing we did was to get the Battery over behind the rear wheels.
Putting the battery from the back on our hhrs to the front would probably help with traction more Than we realize

Edit: Ignore that^^^ just checked the sticker and I was wrong, no LSD. And all this time I thought my '09 auto had LSD. That explains why my '10 5sp feels so much more hooked up.
